According to the World Health Organisation well-being is “a positive state experienced by individuals and societies”. It can be different things to different people, but is generally accepted as living a life with meaning, purpose and a contribution to the world around us. What that then means is unique to each and everyone of us. The Oxford English Dictionary says for well-being we need to be comfortable, healthy and happy. Again words with different meanings to different people, yet all sharing that common need to ‘be well’. This brief information sheet aims to suggest a few key aspects to ecourage well-being from a purposeful, health and happiness view point.
